WhatsApp is one messaging app that seems to have replaced the SMS. With such a huge user count, advertisers are also lured to advertise through WhatsApp. Since telecom regulators around the world enforce DND (do not disturb) or No solicitation calls feature that enables mobile phone users to opt out from receiving promotional calls and SMS, advertisers have found WhatsApp to be a better alternative. But it is not just the advertisers but also people we know who annoy us by forwarding huge messages, unwanted images and videos. In such cases, knowing how to block someone on WhatsApp helps you block nuisance out.
In this article, we will tell how to block someone on WhatsApp in 5 steps.
Open WhatsApp and then open the chat of the person you want to block
Tap on menu option, represented by three vertical dots.
Tap on ‘More’.
Tap on ‘Block’
From the pop up window which says, ” Block <name/number> ? Blocked contacts will no longer be able to call you or send you messages. ” , tap on ‘OK’.
That’s all you have to do.
Newer versions of WhatsApp allows the users to block unknown contacts, from the chat window itself. If you receive a message from a number which is not saved in your contacts it will ask you if you wish to report it as a spam or block it or to add it to your contacts.
Please note if the person you blocked is a member of a group, of which you are also a member, then you would be able to see each other’s messages.
To unblock someone :-
Click on menu > Settings > Account > Privacy
There you will find blocked contacts. Chose the one you want to unblock.
