How to delete Facebook account

With the kind of crazy fan following Facebook has seen for more than a decade, it would be surprising if someone wants to know how to delete Facebook account. But there have been times when it was reported that a huge number of accounts were being deactivated from Facebook. Without getting into plethora of reasons why someone wants to get over Facebook, let us get to the point.
5 simple steps to deactivate Facebook account
Step number 1
Login to your Facebook account.
Click on down arrow button on the top right corner on the blue top bar. Then click on Settings
(4th option from the bottom).
Step number 2
Click on menu item Security (2nd option in the left side bar) and locate link “Deactivate your account” on the bottom of list of options under Security Settings
Step number 3
Select the options under Reason for leaving that explain your reason of leaving Facebook best. If you also want to stop receiving any further email from Facebook about activities of your friends, then check the box against option Email opt out and click button Deactivate on the bottom.
Step number 4
Enter password of your account in the box and click Deactivate Now.
Step number 5
You would see the following message:-
Your account has been deactivated
To reactivate your account, log in using your old login email and password. You will be able to use the site like you used to.We hope you come back soon.
Make note, as soon as you login back to your Facebook account, the account automatically gets re-activated as if it was never deactivated.
In case you want to delete Facebook account permanently, take these following steps:-
Specific steps to permanently delete Facebook account
Login to your Facebook account. Manually enter the following address in your browser’s address bar
https://www.facebook.com/help/delete_account
And press Enter.
A new page for deleting the account will open. Click on the button – Delete My Account, on that page.
In the new pop-up window titled Permanently Delete Account, enter the password and captcha image and click – OK.
You would receive a message saying it would take around 14 days for Facebook to delete it permanently. Click OK.
That’s it. You are done deleting your Facebook account. Do not attempt to login into your account from this point onwards.
